Film Still Lives in Nebraska

With the advent of digital cameras many may think film cameras have gone the way of the buggy whip. That is not necessarily true. There are still a few serious photographers and professionals that have a love of film. Especially the E-6 slide transparency variety.

At Hamilton Color Lab we still process E-6 film in most formats 35mm, 110, 120 4×5, 5×7, and 8×10. We run a dip and dunk process and there isn’t a day goes by we don’t have some film hanging on the racks. Some days someone will bring us a large collection they have saved, or their recent trip to Africa.

For high end photography professional photographers use 4×5 format for the capability of printing very large prints. Landscapes, artwork, and high end fashion photography will still shoot some amount of film in addition to their digital files.

Sadly, we do not process C41 negative film. Our c41 processing machine died on us a few years back and there wasn’t enough business to justify keeping it going. But as long as we can we’re going to keep the slide processing running.

We are often referenced on the Film Photography Project and often receive film into our lab in  Omaha Nebraska  from all over the country.

Stay tuned for more information on our film services, adventures in film, and why there are still loyal followers of film cameras.
